Frequently Asked Questions

BOTOX & DYSPORT

WHAT IS BOTOX, DYSPORT, AND XEOMIN AND HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?

BOTOX, Dysport, and Xeomin share similarities and differences. Each of these is used to treat wrinkles and fines lines. BOTOX is the most widely known and most popular of the brands. The typical onset of BOTOX is 3-7 days while Dysport and Xeomin are 3-4 days. However, the duration of each of these products is typically 3-4 months but this may vary for each patient. Xeomin is considered a “naked injectable” which means it does not contain any additives. In some patients, the additives that are found in the other neurotoxins may cause antibody development which could lead to some patients becoming resistant to these products.

WHERE CAN I USE BOTOX/DYSPORT/XEOMIN?

There are on-label uses as well as off label use for each of these products. BOTOX Cosmetics has been FDA approved for moderate to severe scowl/frown lines, crows feet, and forehead wrinkles. Dysport/ Xeomin has been FDA approved for scowl/frown lines but may be used off label for the treatment of other areas as well. Other off label uses include, lipstick lines, lip flip, or bunny lines on the nose.

HOW MUCH BOTOX/DYSPORT/XEOMIN DO I NEED?

Each patient is different and will require a different number of units to achieve optimal results. On average, clients need 30- 60 units.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

Most procedures typically take about 15 minutes.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

There is no downtime for neurotoxin injections. However, bruising is possible with these so plan accordingly. We do not recommend any strenuous or physical activity over the next 24 hours.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH BOTOX?

You may notice slight swelling at the injection site. This will decrease rather quickly. We do not recommend that you massage or that you apply pressure to the treated areas as this may displace the neurotoxin. There is a risk of bruising around the injection site as well. No strenuous exercise for 24 hours and avoid the hot sun, tanning beds, saunas, or excessive heat for 72 hours.

FILLER

HOW SOON WILL I SEE RESULTS

The great thing about fillers is that you will see visible results immediately. However, there will be some swelling, that will last for 3-7 days. The length/duration of time for swelling or bruising may be dependent on the area injected, the amount, and your body. The final results are typically seen at about 2 weeks. So, if you have a major event planned, you should schedule an appointment 3 weeks prior.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Typically filler placement depending on the area may take 30 minutes to 1 hour.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

Each person varies from treatment to treatment due to how your body may metabolize the drug.

Lip Filler: 6-12 months

Nasolabial Fold: 6-12 months

Cheek Filler: 9-18 months

Under Eye Filler 6-18 months
